Because losing teeth, booster seats and giant shoes aren't bad enough

Last week Brandon yelled at me from the backseat, "mom how come you won't take the child lock off my door, dad did, why won't you? Dad is cooler."

I remained calm but inside my head was exploding to fucking pieces.

Honestly I don't know why I keep the child lock on, I just do.  It's the last thing I have.  He's out of his five point harness, he's losing teeth, he is 10" from being taller then me all I have left is keeping his ass locked in the car so he can't run away and live his own life.

Today driving to Brandons rookie ball opening day I was reminded about the door.  I asked my husband why he did it and he said he was tired of opening the door for him all the time.  I however don't mind opening the door which means I don't want to take the child lock off BUT I don't want dad to be cooler then me.

So what do I do?  Do I take the lock off, or stand my ground and be the lame parent?
